Who it’s for
Brands with existing Target distribution — endcap, planogram or Target.com — who want on-site and off-site media planned against actual guest behaviour.
Roundel is a planning channel. The self-serve reflex that works on Amazon — launch, watch, adjust daily — produces very little here. What produces results is arriving with a plan tied to your Target assortment, seasonality and guest behaviour.
The guest data is the asset
Roundel's targeting draws on Target's first-party guest data, on-site and off-site. For a brand with real assortment, that is a genuinely closed loop: you can see what media did to units sold at Target specifically, rather than inferring it.
The catch is reconciliation. Roundel's numbers do not line up neatly with Amazon's or Walmart's, and pretending they do produces a report nobody trusts. We normalise them into one weekly view with the differences stated rather than smoothed over.
Where it fits in a mix
Rarely as a first channel. Usually as the third or fourth, once Amazon is running properly and there is enough Target volume to justify the planning overhead. When the assortment is strong, the on-site placements convert well and the off-site inventory is a legitimate reach buy.
What we do
Assortment and seasonality read, placement plan against the Target calendar, creative built for Target's guest rather than repurposed from Amazon, and a measurement frame that survives contact with your other channels.
Target Roundel: common questions
Do we need Target distribution to run Roundel?
Effectively, yes. Roundel is built to move product that Target sells, and the guest-data targeting that makes it worthwhile only works when there is a real assortment behind it.
Is Roundel self-serve?
Less so than Amazon or Walmart. More of the buy runs through managed service and planning cycles, which means lead times are longer and the plan matters more than in-flight tinkering.
How is measurement handled?
Roundel reports against Target's own guest data, which is genuinely useful for closed-loop measurement and genuinely awkward to reconcile against your other channels. We normalise it into the same weekly read as everything else.
